SCULPTRA FAQ 1
Sculptra® (made by Valeant, the makers of Dysport and Restylane) is a sterile water suspended poly-L-lactic acid filler that was FDA approved in the United States in 2004. Sculptra® is FDA approved specifically for facial fat loss in the cheeks and is formulated to be injected deeper. My favorite patient for Sculptra is the thin marathon runner, yoga instructor, or body builder that has sunken temples and cheeks. Sculptra® can add "fat" back to those areas and give you a more youthful look, not gaunt emaciated because you work out so much. As the body breaks down Sculptra®, it begins to form collagen in those areas. You can learn more about sculptra® at www.sculptraaesthetic.com.
Sculptra® has been shown to last for up to 24 months (2 years). My protocol is 2 vials injected every 6 weeks for 3 times (for a total of 6 vials). This protocol gives patients the best results and generally full correction that will last the 2 years that was seen in the original studies.
Sculptra® is well tolerated by most patients. Sculptra® is reconstituted with sterile water and lidocaine, so injections tend to be very tolerable for patients.
I administer Sculptra® in the temples, along the cheekbones a and jawline, chin, and anywhere I see facial fat loss.
All Denver Sculptra® injections are done by Dr. Phil Nguyen, MD at Happy Clinic Denver. Dr. Nguyen has over 13 years experience in doing cosmetic injections, with thousands of injections done safely and effectively.
Sculptra® was approved by the FDA since 2004. It's specific niche is geared towards those with overall general fat loss in the face. With new recommended dilution rates and post procedural massaging of the areas treated, Sculptra® is a safe and effective alternative to traditional dermal fillers.
